Yesterday’s meeting was dynamic – very well described by our President, John. John opened the meeting by sharing the great achievement of our club. Toastmasters International rates its clubs on how well they encourage members to pursue their personal public speaking and leadership goals. We reached President’s Distinguished rating which is the highest level of recognition that Toastmasters International gives to its clubs. We would like to congratulate 2018-19 Club Officers and Club Members for their work and commitment to achieve the objectives, whilst developing their public speaking and leadership skills!
The meeting continued with fascinating speeches. Stuart L. took us back to 1974 on his holidays to Moscow. In his unique humorous way Stuart described the 1,000 rooms’ hotel, his adventure of finding a bar and the secrets of nightlife. I cannot wait for part 2 of this speech!
Rebecca delivered her third speech “A journey of learning” for the second time while incorporating the feedback from the first delivery. Rebecca had an amazing opening, used props and inspired us with fascinating ideas to keep learning.
I was the final speaker, my speech was about creativity. I shared examples of how I use creativity in my daily life.
After the speeches we had new officers’ election for the year 2019-20. Congratulation to all new elected officers! I am sure we will continue to make East Herts Speakers an amazing club.

After the break, Kevin with very short notice delivered an exuberant table topics session with the theme “Quotes about England”, we had five fantastic participants Stuart W., our guest Michael, Liz, Stephen and Rebecca.
All the evaluations were encouraging and inspiring from Kevin, Liz, John, and Donia. John was our Jokemaster and Grammarian, he shared funny and inspiring joke and encouraged everyone to use the word of the day “exuberant” meaning full of energy. Stuart W. did a great job keeping time and Stephen shared his thoughts and helpful tips as general evaluator. Finally, Mark had an exceptional performance as Toastmaster of the evening.
Our best speaker award went to myself, our best evaluator was Liz and our best Table Topics speaker was our guest Michael.
Our next meeting is on 18th of June and it will be Open Evening with many guests. We will demonstrate what Toastmasters is all about and what we do exceptionally well at East Herts Speakers. It will be very special evening and I would encourage you all to attend, see you soon!
